3.7 By 2030, ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes | 3.7.2 Adolescent birth rate (aged 10 14 years; aged 15 19 years) per 1,000 women in that age group | The target groups are adolescent women within low-income families because these women tend to have difficulty accessing necessary services or information regarding family planning. 60 women received information about family planning, and the VHVs were able to assist them in obtaining proper family planning care. |
Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) are crucial in providing primary healthcare services and promoting health awareness at the grassroots level in rural communities. They are community members who volunteer their time and efforts to assist people in their community. Since access to appropriate family planning is vital for women in rural areas, this project aims to empower 30 VHVs to promote and advocate for family planning in their communities. By providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources regarding modern methods for family planning, they can enable them to educate and support individuals and families in making informed decisions regarding their reproductive health. The target group is women from low-income families because they have difficulty obtaining proper family planning care.
The thirty village health volunteers feel more confident about their knowledge of modern family planning methods and the local government/hospital services. In addition, they establish support networks among VHVs, increasing the cooperation between each village and improving their service within the community. After the project was completed, each village health volunteer was asked to visit two women from low-income families within their community and provide information regarding safe and unsafe family planning methods, the available services that their local hospitals offer, and direct women who are interested in using the family planning service to the proper authority.
This project involves 30 village health volunteers. The target groups are women within low-income families because these women tend to have difficulty accessing necessary services or information regarding family planning. 60 women received information about family planning, and the VHVs were able to assist them in obtaining proper family planning care.
